I also took the opportunity to reduce the length of the pikes. The Swedes had, on the books at least, pikes that were 8m in length and quite frankly they looked ridiculous. So taking that the pikemen in the English Civil War were not adverse to loping off a few feet from their pikes, I reduced them by a quarter.
Sounds drastic but I think the end effect is far better and more balanced.
For the bases I wanted a cooler look. Cooler as in temperature at least. So white polyfilla and once dried topped with pva and dried sand in patches. Burnt Umber wash, Vallejo Green Olive dry brush then sand (masonry paint from B&Q) and finally a dry brush of white to try and show a little frost. Finished off with winter tufts of grass. I kept some of the old green static grass and foliage in places to try and simulate an early spring or late autumn feel.Hope you like them. More to come soon.

Cool!!!! in both contexts!!!
Very nice job on the rebasing!
Unless you are using them in a 1-1 scale battle then the longer pikes are not needed and agreed they would look out of place in your tabletop games if they are too long.
I like the idea of more wintery look to the troops that fight in the northern climates. Full on snow was a choice I made for an Eylau battle and because of the need to switch from summer to winter my 25mm troops are all individual mounts so that I can do a full switch.
Bravo for your basing works!
They do look excellent!
Nice looking figures and basing! I have always liked the Musketier Miniatures GNW range. I hope that the sculptor keeps making new figures now that he has started working on the cavalry.
