20 Questions for Ray

http://onelover-ray.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/20-questions-for-reject-ray.html

Ray started it and I thought why not? (especially as I've painters block at the moment and can't face putting paint to lead).

1.  Favourite Wargame Period and Why?
Easy, no question it has to be the Malburian period.  All the pomp and splendour of the ace wars (without the lace) without worrying about light infantry and cavalry dashing about making a nuisance of themselves.

2. Next period if money was no object?
Biblical, more correctly Egyptians of Ramses the Great with a large amount of chariots all in 28mm.

3. Favourite 5 films?
Serenity
Field of Dreams
The Longest Day
North by Northwest
It's a Wonderful Life

4. Favourite 5 TV series?
Band of Brothers
Dexter
True Blood
BSG (new version)
Babylon 5

5. Favourite Book & Author?

6. Great General, can't count yourself?
Marlborough the man who created the legend of the Redcoat

7. Favourite Wargame Rules?
Hard one this.  I like our Grimsby wargames Society rules for the Malburian period (eight pages only) but I think I'm going to have to go for Saga 'cos they are so much fun!

8. Favourite Sport & Team?
Another easy one - American Football and the Chicago Bears (ask my son how passionate I am).  England Rugby Union team comes a close second (soccer is way down the list).

9. If you had a use once only time machine, when and where would you go?
Thursday August 2nd 2012 my local Co-op to buy a winning Euro Millions ticket worth £140M

10. Last Meal on Death Row?
As big a ribeye steak as you can get served blood rare & with all the trimmings.

11. Fantasy relationship and Why?
A picture says a thousand words

12. If your life were a movie who would play you?
William H Macy

13. Favourite Comic Superhero?
Dredger from the short lived British comic "Action".  Extremely violent and pulled no punches he was one of the few survivors when the magazine was relaunched after being pulled from publication in the late 70's.

14. Favourite Military Quote?
"Old soldiers never die, they just fade away" General Douglas MacArthur

15. Historical Destination to visit?
Luxor & Karnak

16. Biggest Wargame Regret?
Losing good regular friends & opponents when they move away from the area.

17. Favourite Fantasy Job?
Chief exec of the Chicago Bears

18. Favourite 5 songs?
"You've Got Another Thing Coming" by Judas Priest as on Priest Live
"Speed King" by Deep Purple
"Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina & the Waves
"Strange Fruit" by Billie Holiday
"Fly me to the Moon" by Frank Sinatra

19. Favourite Wargaming Moment?
we used to play games in the dark, literally in the dark, where umpires would only reveal information that you could see (usually very little) or hear.  In one such game I played a Norman warlord and I had arranged a password with one of my fellow players.  We both burst in to a longhouse at the same time from opposite ends bellowing our password but forgot to give the countersign and consequently ended up in a three way fight with the winner being the outnumbered Saxon we were meant to capture.

20. Miserable git question - what gets you upset?
Best limit this since, as a confirmed grumpy old man, it seems most things get me upset, so in no particular order:
Being English but feeling like a minority in my own country
The welfare state being abused
The Celebrity culture that pervades everything and seems to take precedence over reality
The change in society where it seems as though it's nobodys responsibility to be held accountable for their actions
