Damn it man Focus. Focus! ...........ooooh shiny shiny
I've had quite a bit of time to think about recent posts I've made relating to the revamp & overhaul of my French for the War of the Spanish succession and previously stated aims to reduce the collection.
As a result I've reached the same conclusion that some of you may already have thought. Not going to happen.
The overhaul will go ahead and indeed has already started. Three Swiss battalions are now in quarters elsewhere including across the pond - I hope that their new colonels find their performance and appearance satisfactory. These are shortly to be followed by seven regiments of horse who are going to make the transatlantic crossing to new stables.
Bags of figures from Ebor
What won't happen is a reduction in size. Actually I'm going into full governmental "U turn" mode and increase the collection. With the newly released funds from the above transfers I find I can replace them with even more than previously. So yesterday the first batch arrived - sufficient shiny new metal to raise three new battalions (Spanish this time) and they are to be shortly joined by 16 squadrons of horse and a further three infantry battalions. Once these are done I'll raise more funds by selling other figures and replace them with extra units.
The new figures are from Ebor Miniatures and are just terrific. Sculpted by Paul Hicks they are full of character and detail and I can't wait to get started on painting them. I'll do a better review once I get them sorted out.
But painting is going to have to wait.
Whilst in Scotland last week I had an accident that has caused some burns on my left hand that prevents me from holding a brush between my thumb and middle finger for any length of time. Long story cut short - don't sit in a window seat with your coat over the back of a chair when there are candles below it on the low window sill. And certainly don't try and put the fire out with your hands - even if you are at risk from burning the restaurant down!
